Good question. The easy answer is that you should choose your package by looking at the tools you need. The smallest package may be more than enough disk space, but not offer enough email addresses or dynamic resources. Evaluate by number of email address you need, special tools such as ColdFusion or ASP and finally disk space and bandwidth. Remember, we never charge upgrade fees when your needs grow.

YES! If your site is currently hosted by another service you need to sign up for an AKALT hosting plan and then go to your domain registrar to change the DNS record. You will receive the proper nameserver information in your confirmation email.

Not happy with AKALT? Please give us a chance to make it right. If not, send us an email informing us that you are changing hosts. You will need to change your DNS record through your nameserver. We will not cancel your account for 7 days to make sure the transfer has propagated.

We do everything in our power to keep our servers up and running. If your site is down so is our business! We have state of the art hardware, software and systems in place to make outages unacceptable. The average "up-time" for any one of our servers is more than a year. Even planned upgrades and maintenance are performed without interruption of service. HOWEVER, it is important that you understand that if an outage occurs we will do everything within our power to restore service as soon as possible. We strongly recommend that all sites be backed up on a regular basis.

Diskspace is the size your website can be. Every single letter on your website has to be stored somewhere on the server. Each letter is one byte, and a megabyte is roughly one million bytes. HTML pages are usually very small, but it is the extra images, scripts, and even databases that can take up large amounts of disk space.

An average single HTML page, containing perhaps 6 small photos, might consume 200KB worth of disk space. This means a 10MB web hosting plan might allow for a fifty-page website before you need to concern yourself with disk space. That said, many websites do not feature photos on every page; you could easily build a 150-page website without reaching a 10MB disk space limit if you are careful with your photos.
